It's almost Christmas!

Yes, it's almost Christmas and I am still photographing sessions! It's been a banner year for us, and we couldn't be more grateful! Look at this precious little one I photographed today! She is the first one to be photographed on our new prop. Yay!! She's also donning some new portrait clothing I have purchased for the studio. I really love this look!

I am still editing, retouching, ordering, and delivering orders. Phew!! I am very happy that so many will enjoy the gift of portraiture this holiday season! Oh, and it's NEVER too late for gift certificates!
 

Santa!

 

Santa stopped by the studio! Well, at this little Santa's helper was there!  So cute! He had already had his Christmas pictures taken, and then he and his mom made a special trip to come see me and have pictures taken in the Santa suit! LOVE IT!

I am in the home stretch for Christmas orders and such. Phew! It has been our busiest Christmas season since the studio opened. I have FANTASTIC clients!!!!! If you are waiting on an order, watch your mail!  
  
 

Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus!

Doest this first image look like it came straight out of a classic Christmas movie? Classic elegance!

This young girl and her mom come to my studio every year. Their annual visit is one of the last Christmas card sessions that happen. Each year I look forward to seeing her and anticipate what her mom has brought for beautiful clothes for her to wear. She never disappoints! This little one is a photographer's dream! She is happy, agreeable, and has an authentic smile that will melt your heart!

I'll be finishing up her proofs in the next two days, and I'm very excited for her family to see them! One really FUN part of their session, is that the mom sends out Christmas cards in multiple designs! After the session I design about 4 cards. The mom tells me the recipients of her cards love to compare who got which card. It's an innovative touch that is so very clever! It's also fun for me, as I get to design different style cards!

This photographer is going to get back to editing. It's our busy season and I've got a full day of sessions tomorrow (only after I volunteer at my child's school!). Isn't there a T-shirt somewhere that says "Life is Good" ?!

This father and daughter some to my studio every year for their annual portraits. It's a creative endeavor I enjoy, as each year we work to create new, interesting images. With so much positive feedback on this blue canvas lately, I decided to use that for some of their portraits. I think it is as stunning as they are!

Beautiful Baby!

As I was thinking about the blog this morning, it occurred to me that I hadn't shared the previews of this gorgeous baby with you! This family is such a special one to me. The baby's great grandfather owned the house my husband & I rented when we were first married (15+ years ago!!). He and his wife were just wonderful! Now it amazes me that I would have the honor of photographing his great-granddaughter! She is the sweetest baby!! 

As you can imagine, this time of year is our BUSIEST!! With the television segment airing on Monday, our huge sale, the Christmas special, and more....it's the most wonderful time of the year! My days are filled with last minute photo shoots, designing Christmas cards, editing and filling orders. WOW...I am blessed! Thank you all for your loyalty to Joanne Lee Photography!

More Christmas Portraits!!

These days I have wonderful supply of preview photos to share with my loyal blog readers! I'm so blessed to be filling the studio calendar! Thank you everyone!!

These portraits were taken during the Christmas Card Portrait Event. As I've mentioned, the idea was to create relationship portraits that capture the love between siblings or families. I think we succeeded!

Every now and then when someone calls to book a session they say "I wasn't sure if I should call, you are always so busy." Well, that's what I do! And love it, I might add. I do keep a pretty full shooting schedule, but that is what allows me to continue doing what I do! So, please don't hesitate to call and book your portrait sessions. I will find a time that works for both of us! Oh...and you will LOVE the results!
 
 

Family Portrait Photographer, Southern, Maine

This image was one of the first captured at last weekend's Christmas Card Photo Event! They are a stunning family!

Lately, I have put a great deal of focus in expanding my family portrait work. Many times, parents only want a group shot of the children. It's important to have family portraits every now and then, too! Granted, the children change a lot more than us parents, do. So, it's not something you may choose to do every year, but it's important to have them done every few years at least.

Sometimes I hear comments such as "I don't like the way I look," or "I need to lose weight first." Truly, though, what I aim to capture in a family portrait is so much more than just how people look. It's about the relationship between them. Our children see our hearts, and that's what I want people to see when they look at their family portrait.

This portrait above would be ideal in a 16x20 or 20x24 canvas. Hanging in the family room, in a Pottery Barn frame, perhaps. I can envision it being the focal point of the room!
