I am just getting home from an AMAZING afternoon at the Maine Professional Photographers conference. My afternoon began with dropping off some prints for the print competition. This type of competition is not a 'photo contest' type of event, where one is selected over another. It is an event where each print is scored and evaluated by a prestigious group of judges. YIKES!! Tomorrow is the judging, and I'll be able to be there and watch (as will all of the photogs at this convention). I am nervous and excited, as this is the first time I have entered prints. I'll try to post an update soon.
After dropping off this prints, I went to a workshop on wedding photography. I am so stoked at the FANTASTIC quality of the events! The speaker, David Murray, of David Murray Photography was just outstanding! His wife, also presented part of the workshop and she had terrific insight into the business.
My handsome husband met me after the seminar for a romantic dinner. We dined at the Jameson Tavern, and even ran into one of our neighbors while we were there. It's such a small world sometimes. After a chilly stroll to the car, we then went to the 'President's Reception.' No, we weren't hanging with Obama, but rather the Pres of MPPA. It's so valuable to connect with other photographers.
Tomorrow after church I'll be heading back to the convention to sit in on the print judging. I'll post another update tomorrow night!
